Hey guys! Hope your weekend went well!

I spent the weekend putting together the finished pig toy chest. There will be revisions to it since this is only the first prototype, but these images will give you the basic idea. I really like how it turned out!

I roughly cut out the pieces from the 4×4 sheet of milled plywood. Next step is to sand. Lots of sanding!

Will put together the toy chest over the weekend!

So you guys saw the full scale cardboard model of my toy chest…

And this is what it looks like now after CNC milling with 1/2 inch plywood:

I’ll be putting together the toy chest soon, and of course, updating you guys with pictures! This version will just be a prototype, the final piece will be cut next week! I’m excited to see it all come together! ^^

These unique pieces of urban furniture by Alexandre Moronnoz are made using metal and timber. This bench named “Muscle” resembles the tendons of muscles and his other two pieces also possess interesting shapes.

TOOLS: Metal Lamp Inspiration

The next lamp I’ll be designing in TOOLS class is a metal lamp using steel rods. It’ll be interesting since I haven’t had any experience working with welding and metals before — learning curve ahead!

Below are a few inspirational images for my lamp. I’m staying with the theme of Japanese/Chinese Gardens and looking at different weaving techniques, as well as simplicity, symmetry, and balance.
